Mass Effect Rendering Thread Exception

Hence, Mass Effect is actually pretty good at having the various specialists stick to their specialties with the notable exception of Shepard commanding a space ship and leading every away mission and participating in high stakes diplomatic negotiations. Or at least it was pretty good at this until ME3, when a bunch of your squadmates get at. Rendering thread exception: Attemtping to load unused mip+0 for Texture2d BIOGHMMARMR.MEDA.Icon.HMMARMMEDaIcoSpwrStack. I've seen a few people talking about the updated texture mods and what not, but I'd really like to avoid using them and having to wait 10 minutes every time I open the game. This seems to be a rather common issue with this particular mod. I've tried several solutions so far with no success. I've edited the BioEngine.ini as recommended by the mod, I installed the Nvidia legacy PhysX driver, applied LAA, reinstalled the game and mod, and no success. In cutscenes I keep ge. I decided to go play Mass Effect again but I keep running into crashes. The crashes are very random but so far seem to only happen in the citadel. I got through the whole prologue without a single crash. It happens randomly when I talk to NPC's, then suddenly crashes with a 'general protection fau.

Just got Mass Effect for the PC. On my first playthrough, and I just got to the Citadel after the Eden Prime mission. I am walking in the Presidium toward the Citidel Tower, and when I look at the Mass Relay monument, the game crashes, and I get a window:
